Our Practice
Human Growth & Training Associates is the oldest private practice in the Wilmington Area. We currently provide a therapy for all ages and needs. We also work with multiple Employee Assistance Programs throughout the area.
Meet Our Associates
Howard S. Grotsky
Psychologist, EdD
BA Penn State, EdD University of Virginia
Dr. Grotsky has been with Human Growth & Training since 1976. He is currently specializing in high conflict divorce cases, working with Armed Service Veterans, relationship issues, and adults. Dr. Grotsky utilizes cognitive behavior, reality, and supportive therapies.
Susan P. Shafer
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specalist
BS VA Tech, MEd Clemson University
Susan has been in practice for over 25 years where her specalities include anxiety, mood disorders, trauma and substance use in collaborative work with adolescents, adults, and couples. She primarily uses cognitive behavioral therapy and supportive counseling.
Kimberly Selsky
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Kimberly has been in the field for 15 years where she primarily works with teenagers and young adults. Kimberly's primary treatment modalities are cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused. She is experienced with relationship issues, stress management, and women's issues.
Heather Hughes
Licensed Clinical Social Worker- Certificate in Aging Studies

Heather has been in practice for 13 years in both residential and outpatient settings. She primarily works with individual adults where the focus includes mood disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, work/school issues, caregiver burden, and age related challenges. She primarily uses cognitive behavioral therapy and supportive counseling.
